THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR

The end of the school year is coming so it is the right time for the pupils to take their postcards home. It was funny that some of the pupils forgot which postcards are theirs. Bye bye colourful postcrossing board!

MY FAVOURITE STAMP

The pupils who did not described their stamps orally, created a Word document. They were asked to write 10 sentences. I think they did very well!

END-OF-PROJECT COMPETITION

End-of-project competition becomes a must in each project at our school. Pupils like it and they are excited to be the best, to know the most about the project and all the activities. This time they could win an eTwinning notebook from France! The pupils were asked 20 questions via Facebook and the fastest to answer each question got a point.

The winner was Kačka, the second place went for Míša. Congratulation!

VIDEO WITH ANIMALS AND ACTIONS

One English lesson we had a task in our course book: "Work with a partner. Mime an animal. your partner must guess what animal you are and what your are doing. Take turns." Why not to prepare a video for our Turkish friends to guess!?  Yes! And here it is!

And here are the "animals"! :-)

The pupils were doing great and they are really fun to work with. Nice way to practise also the present continuous.

CZECH PUPILS SPEAKING TURKISH

We tried to speak Turkish. It was hard but big fun! We used Google translator and Voki character for hearing our sentences in Turkish. Some of us had problems at first to hear anything but at the end we filmed a video and hopefully, the Turkish pupils will understand something. ;-)

ETWINNING T-SHIRTS

It was time to reward Czech pupils for their work for the project. Kačka was the most productive Postcrosser. She has received 46 postcards herself, so she got one eTwinning T-shirt. The rest of the pupils who got the T-shirts were drawn randomly because all the pupils were working hard the whole year and all of them deserved it! :-)
Lucky pupils!

POSTCROSSING TUTORIALS

These days we finished filming Postcrossing Tutorial Videos. The filming was quite hard since we could film only in our English lessons and they are short. However, I am sure the pupils liked it more than ordinary English lesson! ;-)
We filmed two versions, one version is in English and one version is in Czech for our friends who can´t speak English well.

DÜZCE - HOMETOWN OF OUR TURKISH FRIENDS

Our Turkish project friends live in a town called Düzce that is 1882 kilometres far from Uherské Hradiště. If we took our car it would take more than 20 hours to get there. It would be much more faster to go by plane, of course! :-)

The Turkish teacher Tugba writes more about her hometown:

The city of Düzce has approximately 323 328 inhabitants and it is situated in West Black Sea Region, in the middle of Ankara and İstanbul. It is 40 km to seaside. It has got a magnificient nature and involves different ethnic groups as a cultural mosaic.

It is also available for cycyling. Because the city center is so flat and everyday about 3 000 cyclists are in the traffic. In fact the word "düzce" means "quite flat". However, the periphery is covered by mountains full of plateaus.

In 1999 the city was flatten by a big earthquake. But now it is being rebuilt and growing.

Tugba says more about the earthquake:

"It affected mainly 3 cities one of which was ours. We were sleeping when it started. It let us go out safe. But the building were badly damaged. Then the town was destroyed in the second earthquake 2 months later. We were safe. No injury."

POSTCROSSING SITES

The Turkish pupils decied to be STARSOFTHE FUTURE and this is their site at Postcrossing.

The Czech pupils are WINDKIDS and this is their site

Here are the postcards the Czech pupils have received since the beginning of the school year, before the eTwinning project was created. Although the postcards are still hanging on a board in our school corridor, each postcard has already its owner. They were equally divided among the pupils. ;-)

NEW ETWINNING PROJECT

The impulse to create a new eTwinning project arose from my idea to film a Postcrossing Tutorial video. My Czech school was involved in sending and receiving postcards since October 2012. Since then lots of pupils kept asking us: "What is Postcrossing?" I thought it would be nice to film a tutorial about how the postcrossing works and at the same time got the idea of turning it into an eTwinning project. I placed an advert about looking for an eTwinning partner in the eTwinning system. There was really nobody interested in this project and at the time when Tugba from Turkey replied, I was even thinking to stop looking. However, when Tugba asked: "So when are we starting?" it was clear there WILL be a new eTwinning project devoted to our new hobby!
